Who publishes it

eu261rights.com is published by EU261 Rights, part of the Uncompromised Travel network of independent guides. It is a reference site, not a claims management company and not a law firm. We do not handle claims, give advice on individual flights, or take a percentage of anyone’s compensation. Our only revenue is the two affiliate links explained in our affiliate disclosure.

Where the figures come from

Every amount, threshold and deadline traces to a primary source, and each page lists its own in a Sources box:

• The law itself: Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 and the amending Regulation (EU) 2026/2202 on EUR-Lex, and UK261 on legislation.gov.uk.
• How courts apply it: judgments of the Court of Justice of the EU, cited by case number and linked on EUR-Lex. A point that turns on case law cites the case rather than asserting the rule. See the judgments that matter.
• National rules: claim time limits are set by each country, so each figure is given with the statute it comes from (time limits). The enforcement bodies are linked to their own sites.
• Airlines and claims services: claim channels come from the airlines’ own websites. The claims-service fees we quote come from the services’ own published terms. We do not test the services.

What a “checked” date means

A page’s checked date is the day its claims were last re-read against the sources it lists. It is not the day the file was last edited. A page we have not re-verified keeps its older date, even if something else on it changed. The “Current position” bar at the top of every page records when the status of the 2026 reform was last confirmed against the Official Journal and the European Parliament’s procedure file.

The whole site was re-checked against its sources on 5 October 2026, three days after Regulation (EU) 2026/2202 was published. That review corrected the reform’s status on every page, the claims-service fees, the calculator’s scope rules for UK airlines, and the national time limits.

What we do not know

Some things cannot be stated as fact, and we say so on the page rather than guess. That includes how national courts will apply the reform’s nine-month deadline alongside national limitation periods, the time limit in countries where courts disagree, and how any one airline will treat a claim. Where sources conflict we give the safer reading and say which way the conflict runs.
